Coldplay has been performing a few intimate gigs in support of their latest album Mylo Xyloto but have been largely out of the big picture. Until now. Chris Martin and the band have just announced four major stadium shows in the UK for the summer of 2012. Coldplay on Colbert

Chris Martin survived an interview with the indomitable Stephen Colbert and was actually able to one up Colbert, a rare feat on the show. Colbert said that the band's new album Mylo Xyloto was Greek for Miley Cyrus and chided him for stealing America's Gwyneth Paltrow. Check out the hilarious interview below:

With all the rumors circulating about Coldplay's new album, fans have been scratching their heads about what it will sound like. Their third album, X & Y was a far cry from their previous albums and their fourth album, Viva la Vida departed even further into surprising new territory under the guidance of producing legend Brian Eno. Eno is back to produce their as yet unnamed fifth album, and Chris Martin himself dropped the names of three of the new songs (Up with the Birds, Hurts Like Heaven and Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall). Reportedly the album is about addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder and the meticulous inner dynamic of the band. Coldplay is coming!!! After a brief hiatus Coldplay is back and starting to tour again which could possible mean...a soon to be released new Coldplay album?!? The band's official blog Roadie #42 has said that the band is nearing completion and a mysterious recent post hinted that the band's shifting tour dates have potentially fast tracked the album's completion which means that fans may hear some new songs at these upcoming Coldplay tour dates. Coldplay is on the road again! Last fall, the alt-rockers went out to support their latest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The album was produced by Brian Eno and Markus Dravs and the positive response would far surpass that of X&Y. The first single from the new album, "Violet Hill" hit the Top 20 on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, heating up the interest in Coldplay tickets and their music in general.

Coldplay will play over a dozen dates across North America. Last year, Coldplay announced a free show at Madison Square Garden in June, where glimpses of "Viva la Vida" were heard. The band performed an free concert earlier in the year at London's Brixton Academy in mid-June. Fans won tickets to the concerts on the Coldplay website, with one lucky winner having their airfare and hotel costs furnished by Coldplay. What a band, huh?
